Since the 1980s, Energy Medicine has gained increasing recognition among medical experts and holistic practitioners. In today’s modern world, clients are becoming more receptive to the idea that we are made up much more of our physical bodies. Energy medicine is based on the premise that imbalances in the body’s energy field result in illness and physical manifestations. By restoring and rebalancing the body’s energetic and spiritual structures, health may be improved and even restored.
"In a few decades science has gone from a conviction that there is no such thing as energy fields in and around the human body to an absolute certainty that they exist." -Dr. James L. Oschman, PhD
The Earthly Embrace Energy Medicine Model First and foremost, the Earthly Embrace approach relies on a genuine desire to understand your intentions and to communicate with your body on an energetic and spiritual level. By addressing the root and listening to what your body needs, Ranpreet may intuitively address the energies that your body presents in any one session. What does this mean? Well, it means that certain areas may need to be released and rebalanced before other areas. This does not suggest that deeper, core issues will not be addressed, rather it is an unfolding process and certain areas may be too vulnerable or complex on one day and not the next. The goal at Earthly Embrace is to respect the unfolding process, distinguish these differences, and treat appropriately. How is Energy Medicine Bodywork Performed? Unless energy medicine is combined with other modalities, such as massage therapy or Far Infrared (FIR) Therapy, it is a clothes-on method generally performed with the client lying supine (face up) on a massage table. A session may include energy healing, reiki, hara breathing, chakra and meridian therapies. These therapies encourage the flow of “qi”, “prana”, or “life force” to clear blockages and enhance both physical and emotional well-being. Your practitioner may place their hands in specific positions on the recipient’s body or work off the body within the energy fields within and around you.
When is Energy Medicine Bodywork appropriate? It is an ideal method for clients feeling “stuck” in their daily lives, exhausted and depleted of energy, or just plain “stressed out”, anxious, or depressed. It may also be beneficial for clients recognizing unhealthy repetitive patterns in their lives, such as a myriad of unhealthy relationships or one who is feeling overwhelmed by working in the corporate world. The process is designed to complement any modern health care program or therapy.
How often should an energy work session be received? The number and frequency varies according to your body and your goals, however, a minimum of three sessions is recommended. Maintenance sessions can be guided by your own body’s intuition or a common plan of action discussed between you and your therapist. As it is important to be tuned into how the body is integrating and the rate at which that occurs, the typical frequency of returned visits is every two or four weeks, and may vary for each individual. Energy Medicine Side Effects While energetic therapies are considered safe and non-invasive, it’s important to be aware of certain symptoms that may occur on a physical or emotional level as your body adjusts to the bodywork and changing frequencies. Emotional and energetic release, fatigue, change in bowels, anxiety, sleep disturbances, changes in body temperature, body pain, vivid dreams, nausea and headaches are common effects of the body cleansing and detoxing. It may be beneficial to have a strong support system and work with a professional who can guide your process. These are temporary responses that will change and diminish and are not cause for alarm. It is important to be aware of how the body heals and trust your body’s own healing process rather than try to fix, repress, panic, or over-analyze it. It varies for each individual and there are a great number of clients that simply feel deep relaxation, improved sleep patterns, and enhanced vitality without any negative side effects. Rest is generally a great option for the day you receive such a session. Warm, epsom salt baths may also gently complement your process.
